Information For Visitors:
Frequently Asked Questions
- Where can I park? A
large parking lot is available on the east side of the church. Some
spaces are also available along the road on the north and west sides of
the building.
- Where should I enter the building? The
most convenient place to enter for services and other events is the
double doors on on the east side of the building. This entrance
is handicap accessible. A chair-lift to the basement is also
available near this entrance.
- Are restrooms available? Both
a men's and a women's restroom are located on the lower level in the
preschool area. A single, handicap accessible restroom is located on the main level across
from the pastor's office.
- Is childcare or a nursery available during services? St.
John's believes the service is for the whole family, and we encourage
families to participate in the service together. For this reason, we do
not offer child care during the services. Don't worry. We won't be
upset to hear a baby cry. We are glad to have God's youngest saints
join us in hearing His Word.
- May I take part in communion as a visitor at St. John's?
We invite all visitors who are confirmed members of LCMS congregations
to join us at the Lord's Altar for communion. Because communion is
Jesus' true body and blood given for us as well as a confession of
unity among those who commune (1 Corinthians 11), we ask anyone not
from a church in our fellowship to speak with the pastor before
receiving communion. If you wish to become a member of our
congregation and receive the Lord's Supper, the pastor will gladly
offer instruction for membership to anyone requesting to join the
congregation.
- What Bible Classes are offered at St. John's? Every
Sunday at 8:30AM during the Sunday School hour, the pastor teaches an
adult Bible class on a book of the Bible or a topic of interest.
The present topic examines the beliefs of various Christian
Denominations. Weekday Bible classes on a book of the Bible or a topic of interest are also offered from time to time.
- What does St. John's offer for children? Sunday
School takes place every Sunday at 8:30AM from Labor Day until Memorial
Day. The children meet for an opening in the Sanctuary before
breaking out into classes by age.
Religion
School takes place on Wednesday evenings at 6PM. Here children from
3rd-8th grades have the opportunity to learn in depth, and in a more
academic setting, about the Bible and Christian beliefs.
St.
John's also offeres a Vacation Bible School during the summer. This
involves learning about the Bible in a more relaxed setting with music
and crafts. Check back on the website in the spring for exact dates
and times.
Visitors are always welcome at any of our children's classes.
If you have any other questions, please call the church office (515) 924-3344 or email the pastor or church office.
